Eikev, le nom de la paracha, signifie « parce que ». Mais le mot désigne aussi le talon. Rachi y lit une mise en garde : il existe des commandements que l'on écrase du talon, ceux qui paraissent trop petits pour compter. La Torah promet ici que tout dépend d'eux.

Le talon est la partie la plus basse du corps, la moins sensible. C'est pourtant lui qui touche terre en premier, et lui qui porte chaque pas.

Une table de Shabbat à Ljubljana peut sembler un petit geste. Quelques bougies, du pain, des invités de passage. Rien de spectaculaire. Mais c'est par les talons que l'on avance, et c'est par les petits gestes fidèles qu'une vie juive tient debout, ici comme ailleurs.

The Heel

Eikev, the name of this week's parasha, means "because." But the word also means heel. Rashi reads it as a warning: there are commandments we trample underfoot — those that seem too small to matter. Yet the Torah promises here that everything depends on them.

The heel is the lowest part of the body, the least sensitive. And yet it is the first to touch the ground, and the one that carries every step.

A Shabbat table in Ljubljana may seem like a small gesture. A few candles, some bread, a handful of passing guests. Nothing spectacular. But it is through our heels that we move forward, and it is through small, faithful acts that a Jewish life stands upright — here as elsewhere.

Eikev — ime tedenske paraše — pomeni »ker«. A beseda pomeni tudi peto. Raši v njej bere svarilo: obstajajo zapovedi, ki jih teptamo s peto — tiste, ki se zdijo premajhne, da bi štele. Prav o njih pa Tora tukaj obljublja, da je od njih odvisno vse.

Peta je najnižji del telesa, najmanj občutljiva. In vendar se ona prva dotakne tal in ona nosi vsak korak.

Miza za šabat v Ljubljani se morda zdi majhna gesta. Nekaj svečk, kruha, mimoidočih gostov. Nič posebnega. A napredujemo s petami in prav z malimi, zvestimi dejanji judovsko življenje ostaja pokončno — tu kot drugod.

"עקב" — שמה של הפרשה — פירושו "כי" או "מפני כן". אבל המילה פירושה גם עקב. רש"י קורא בה אזהרה: יש מצוות שאנחנו דורסים בעקב, כאלה שנראות קטנות מכדי לספור. ואף על פי כן, התורה מבטיחה כאן שהכל תלוי בהן.

העקב הוא החלק הנמוך ביותר בגוף, הפחות רגיש מכולם. ובכל זאת הוא זה שנוגע בקרקע ראשון, והוא זה שנושא כל צעד.

שולחן שבת בלובליאנה עשוי להיראות כמחווה קטנה. כמה נרות, לחם, אורחים שמזדמנים לעבור. שום דבר מרהיב במיוחד. אבל דרך העקבים אנחנו מתקדמים, ודרך המחוות הקטנות והנאמנות החיים היהודיים עומדים על רגליהם — כאן כמו בכל מקום.
